PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means which can firmly fix a ceramic cylindrical body having irregular bending and deformation individually so that the cylindrical body can be cut exactly in an intended size/shape and is prevented from being moved during cutting. SOLUTION: A gripping device 1 for the ceramic cylindrical body has four sets of gripping mechanisms each having an installation stand 2 supporting the ceramic cylindrical body 4 by the lower part of the peripheral surface of the laid ceramic cylindrical body 4 and a pair of chucks 3 holding the ceramic cylindrical body 4 by both side parts of the peripheral surface of the laid ceramic cylindrical body 4, which are arranged separately in parallel and in the axial direction of the ceramic cylindrical body 4. The gripping device 1 is equipped with a chuck operating means for operating the chucks 3. A chuck position adjusting means for adjusting the positions of the chucks and an installation stand position adjusting means for adjusting the position of the installation stand are provided independently in two sets of the inside gripping mechanisms, respectively.
