摘要 <p>A method for driving a three-electrode surface electric discharge display (1) comprising electric discharge tubes (10) arranged parallel to constitute a display region (S) in a panel shape as a whole, address electrodes (A) arranged perpendicularly to the discharge tube and along the respective discharge tubes, and display electrode pairs of parallel electrodes (X, Y). Electrode discharge is caused in the portion of each discharge tube crossing each display electrode pair, and light is emitted. The portions serve as light-emitting units, respectively. The display region is divided into partial display regions (S1, S2) in the direction in which the discharge tubes extend. Each partial display region is operated for an address period for which a predetermined address pulse voltage is applied to the address electrode (A) while a scan pulse voltage is sequentially applied to the electrodes (Y) so that an address discharge is caused. The operation of each partial display region for the address period is different from that of the partial display region adjacent to the former one in the direction in which the scan pulse voltage is sequentially applied.</p>
