The rack has side rails (1, 2) arranged for detachable connection to a motor vehicle e.g. sedan car, and bicycle support rails. One of the support rails is accommodated in a utilization position transverse to the side rails. The side rails and the support rails are equipped with locking units for providing detachable connection between the rails. The support rails have bicycle support rail units (5, 6, 7, 8) that are detachably connected with one another by a bicycle support rail connection unit, where the rail units have smaller length than the support rails. An independent claim is also included for a transportation case for a bicycle rack.
