FIELD: technological processes. ^ SUBSTANCE: with consideration of soil specific electric potential change, differences in protective potential gradients are determined. Periods of high and low level of subsoil waters are defined by stabilization of protective current of cathodic protection units (CPU), accordingly at maximum and minimum values, pipeline deepening, high and low subsoil waters levels are measured, and sections are detected according to location of alternating watering stripe (or its portion) within the limits of gas line transverse section. ^ EFFECT: improves reliability of gas line sections detection. ^ 3 dwg
