PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide flavonoid pathway metabolising enzyme, in detail flavonoid 3'-hydroxylase (hereinafter referred to "F3'H") or derivative thereof and the use thereof in the manipulation of pigmentation in plants and other organism.

SOLUTION: This is an isolated nucleic acid molecule that includes a specific nucleotide sequence encoding flavonoid 3'-hydroxylase or its derivative, wherein the flavonoid 3'-hydroxylase or its derivative can do more efficient modulation of hydroxylation of the flavonoid compound in plant than the flavonoid 3'-hydroxylase encoded by the conventional nucleotide sequence can do.
