<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a musical performance system capable of improving the operability of local ON/OFF switching of a playing terminal, a controller used for the musical performance system, and a program. <P>SOLUTION: The controller 1 which is used for the musical performance system and can mutually communicate with the playing terminal includes an HDD 13 stored with music data comprising a musical performance data string and a control section 11 which determines a tempo and/or beat timing of an automatic musical performance based upon musical performance data received from the playing terminal, reads the musical performance data string of the music data out, and transmits the read musical performance data to the playing terminal device.
