<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device capable of generating and detecting high-power and broad-band terahertz electromagnetic wave, in an optical fiber transmission type THz-TDS system having probes for generating or detecting terahertz electromagnetic wave of high degree of operation freedom. <P>SOLUTION: As an optical fiber for transmitting an ultrashort light pulse used for generating and detecting the terahertz electromagnetic wave, a photonic crystal fiber for performing a single mode operation capable of suppressing the nonlinear optical effect is used.
