Provided is a method for manufacturing an optical head device wherein jitter is reduced and a RF amplitude is stabilized, even when an angle, which is formed by polarized wave surfaces in laser beams emitted from a first semiconductor laser and a second semiconductor laser, is deviated from prescribed conditions. Such optical head device is also provided. At the time of assembling the optical head device (1), a 1/4 wavelength plate (30), a twin laser light source (10) (a first semiconductor laser (11) and a second semiconductor laser (12)), an optical system and a light receiving element (13) are mounted on a frame, then, signal detection is performed by the light receiving element (13) by lighting the first semiconductor laser (11) and the second semiconductor laser (12). Based on the signal detection results, the angular position of the 1/4 wavelength plate (30) is adjusted on the frame, then, the 1/4 wavelength plate (30) is fixed to the frame by an adhesive.
