<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve visibility of a display image in extremely high illuminance environment, in image processing of a display device in which environmental illuminance is significantly changed and variable kinds of image signals are input, such as an on-vehicle display. <P>SOLUTION: An input image signal is converted to color space composed of signals of hue, chroma, lightness, and a lightness correction processing means is provided for performing correction control of a gain etc. of the converted lightness signal. An illuminance value is obtained by an illuminance detecting means for detecting illuminance. Here, a lightness control factor calculating means in which chroma and hue signals and illuminance are input, is provided, and lightness correction control is performed on the lightness correction processing means with such characteristics that, when an input chroma signal level is low, the lightness is made lower, and when the chroma level is high, the lightness is made higher. By optimally controlling the correction control independently for each illuminance and predetermined hue, display with improved visibility is obtained, color is adjusted so that color contrast may expand and display in which visibility is improved is obtained. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
