PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate excessive temperature, rising in a paper non-passing region in an image forming apparatus, wherein a recording medium is held between a pressure roller and a fixing roller, pressed against each other and is rotated and a tone image the recording medium is fixed. SOLUTION: A temperature detection section 62 detects the temperature of the fixing roller via a thermistor (2) 75, disposed in a region of the fixing roller where the recording medium will not pass through; a temperature comparison section 44 compares the temperature detected by the temperature detection section 62 with the reference temperature set previously, and a printing control section 45 decreases the quantity of heat supplied to the fixing roller for a certain time, when the comparison result of the temperature comparison section 44 indicates that the detected temperature has exceeded the reference temperature.
