PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element having a plurality of light-emitting materials with different emission wavelength, especially presenting white color emission, which has a superior drive current stability of chromaticity, and also to provide a display device using the same, and a lighting apparatus. SOLUTION: The organic electroluminescent element has at least one main luminous layer and an auxiliary luminous layer between a positive electrode and a negative electrode. The main luminous layer contains two kinds or more of phosphorescent materials having a luminous maximum energy different by 0.2 eV or more, and among the phosphorescent materials, the phosphorescent material with the largest luminous energy is contained in the maximum mol concentration. The auxiliary luminous layer exists between the main luminous layer and the positive electrode, or between the main luminous layer and the negative electrode, and contains the light-emitting material on a low-energy side in the main luminous layer as the main luminous layer.
