PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition having a refractive index higher than that of an original resin, while keeping transparent, colorless and light-weight properties of the resin. SOLUTION: The resin composition contains a ring compound represented by general formula (1) (wherein, a to d are each an integer of 0 to 2; X and Y are each a halogen, a thiol group, a CH<SB>2</SB>SH, a phenyl group, or a benzil group; m and n are each an integer of 0 to 2; and z is an integer of 1 to 10).
