PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a socket for an electric component allowing a latch member to be turnably mounted thereto, and allowing the latch member and a socket body to be downsized. SOLUTION: The socket for the electric component includes the socket body 14, and the latch members 21 rotatably held to the socket body 14. The latch member 21 includes a base part 23 rotatably held to the socket body 14, a projecting part 24 projecting sideward from the base part 23, and a pressing part 25 projecting inward from the base part 23 and abutting on the electric component to press it. The socket body 14 includes lower holding parts 31 each turnably holding a rotating bottom surface 26 of the base part 23 while regulating its inward and downward movement, and upper holding parts 32 each turnably holding a rotating top surface 28 of the projecting part 24 while regulating its upward and outward movement. A biasing means for biasing the pressing part 25 in a direction for pressing the electric component 12 is arranged between the latch member 21 and the socket body 14. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
