An eight-gear gearbox comprises an input shaft, an output shaft, four planetary gearsets, eight rotatable shafts and five shifting elements. A ring gear of the second planetary gearset and the input shaft are connected as the first shaft. A carrier of the third planetary gearset and the output shaft are connected as the second shaft. A sun gear of the first and fourth planetary gearsets are connected as the third shaft. A ring gear of the first planetary gearset forms the fourth shaft. A sun gear of the third planetary gearset and a carrier of the fourth planetary gearset are connected as a fifth shaft. A carrier of the first planetary gearset and a ring gear of the third planetary gearset are connected as the sixth shaft. A sun gear of the second planetary gearset and a ring gear of the fourth planetary gearset are connected as the seventh shaft. A carrier of the second planetary gearset forms the eighth shaft. The first shifting element is arranged in the power flow between the third shaft and a housing of the gearbox; the second shifting element in the power flow between the fourth shaft and the housing, the third shifting element in the power flow between the first and fifth shafts; the fourth shifting element in the power flow between the second and eighth shafts and the fifth shifting element in the power flow between the fifth and the eighth shaft.
