A base plate for a gas valve is provided to allow a user to detect a weak fire position by directly forming an instantaneous stop part on the circumferential portion of a through-hole of the base plate. In a base plate(20) for a gas valve, a guide groove(23) guiding a child lock boss(12) is formed along the circumference of a through-hole(21) having the same radius as a child lock fixing part(22) of the base plate. An instantaneous stop part is provided on the circumferential portion of the through-hole adjacent to the child lock fixing part to allow an operator to detect a weak fire position only through feel. The instantaneous stop part includes a vertical surface and an inclined surface.
