PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophoresis display medium which has good long-period storage property and can release charged particles from a display substrate, and an electrophoresis display device. SOLUTION: In a display panel 2 being the electrophoresis display medium, a releasing particle 7 charged to the opposite polarity from an upper electrode 22 is attracted to the upper electrode 22. As the distance between the upper electrode 22 and releasing particle 7 decreases, interaction between a small particle 73 on the surface of the releasing particle 7 and the upper electrode 22 becomes stronger and the small particle 73 and upper electrode 22 have the same polarity and repel each other, so that the releasing particle 7 leaves the upper substrate 20. When the small particle 73 leaves the upper substrate until the attraction between a main particle 71 and upper electrode 22 becomes larger than the repulsive force between the small particle 73 and upper electrode 22, the releasing particle 7 approaches the upper electrode 22 again through the attraction between the main particle 71 and upper electrode 22. This is repeated to make the releasing particle 7 vibrate and rotate, and further move horizontally to collide against a first display particle 5 stuck on the upper substrate 20, thereby vibrating and separating the first display particle 5 from the upper substrate 20.
