PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scanning microscope which can simultaneously stimulate a wide area such as the whole cell with light and observe instantaneously generated reaction. SOLUTION: The scanning microscope 1 is provided with: an observing excitation light source 2 for generating observing excitation light L1; a stimulating light source 3 for generating stimulating light L2; a scanning means 4 for two-dimensionally scanning a sample A with the observing excitation light L1 generated from the observing excitation light source 2; an objective lens 7 for irradiating the sample A with the observing excitation light L1 scanned by the scanning means 4 and/or the stimulating light L2 generated from the stimulating light source 3 and converging fluorescence F generated from the sample A; detection means 8a, 8b for detecting the fluorescence F converged by the objective lens 7; and a multimode fiber 30 arranged between the stimulating light source 3 and the objective lens 7 and propagating the stimulating light L2.
