PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a concentration measuring instrument capable of accurately measuring the concentration of toner particles in liquid developer, and an image forming apparatus equipped therewith. SOLUTION: The concentration measuring instrument 18 is equipped with a rotating roller 27 arranged in a reservoir part 17 and having cross-sectional shape which is hollow and elliptical. The rotating roller 27 is arranged in the reservoir part 17. The outer peripheral surface 30 of the rotating roller 27 is opposed to the inner surface 33 of the reservoir part 17, and a gap 34 extended and contracted by the rotation of the rotating roller 27 is formed between the outer peripheral surface 30 and the inner surface 33. A light emitting element 28 is arranged inside the rotating roller 27, and a light receiving element 29 is arranged on the outside of the reservoir part 17 while putting the gap 34 in between. The concentration of the toner particles is measured based on the peak value of received light quantity by the light receiving element 29, which is obtained periodically. The liquid developer lying in the gap 34 is forcibly replaced by the rotation of the rotating roller 27. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
