The stimulator has an input unit to input a preset audio source setting, and a selecting unit to select the setting on activation of an audio source. A mode select code module (306) determines an operating mode e.g. a sunset mode, a night mode and a sunrise mode, of the stimulator. A removable storage device stores audio data to provide sleep sound and/or wake-up sound for the sunset mode and/or the sunrise mode. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a volume level of a dawn simulator.
