The arm rest (1) has a roll casing (2) comprising roller blind bars (3) that are connected with one another in an articulated manner. A roller blind guide (4) holds the roller blind bars and is guided with a sliding guide (5, 6) in a longitudinal direction of the roll casing and transverse to the roller blind bars. The roller blind guide holds a section of the roll casing at a distance from a plane defined by the roll casing.
