<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a monochrome image from being determined as a color image by mistake. <P>SOLUTION: Determination whether color or black and white is to be determined from header information of image data when the image data is inputted from an external device. A print job of each color is to be produced from the image data when being determined as color. In bit map data of the print job, color pixels are to be counted. In the bit map data of the print job, color pixels are to be counted. When the number of color pixels are larger than a threshold value, determination is to be made as a color image, while determination is to be made as a monochrome image when determined as being smaller than the threshold value.
