<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic material which highly sensitively realizes a change in optical properties and efficiently absorbs two photons, namely, an organic material having a large two-photon-absorbing cross-sectional area. <P>SOLUTION: A two-photon-absorbing material having a structure represented by formula (I) is provided. In formula (I), Ar<SB>1</SB>, Ar<SB>2</SB>, Ar<SB>4</SB>, and Ar<SB>5</SB>are each a divalent aromatic hydrocarbon or aromatic-heterocyclic group; Ar<SB>3</SB>is a monovalent aromatic hydrocarbon or aromatic-heterocyclic group; Ar<SB>6</SB>a divalent benzene, thiophene, biphenyl, fluorene, or anthracene group; and Ar<SB>7</SB>and Ar<SB>8</SB>are each an aromatic hydrocarbon group. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
