<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithographic printing original plate which ensures good developability and high printing durability while retaining high sensitivity, and which is capable of image recording with a laser, and a lithographic printing method. <P>SOLUTION: The lithographic printing original plate has an image forming layer containing a high molecular compound having a main chain branched into three or more (a star polymer) on a surface-hydrophilic support.
