<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing plate nearly free from light leakage generated in a frame shape in a liquid crystal panel by distortion due to heat and the like and to provide a liquid crystal display device provided with the polarizing plate and having high display quality. <P>SOLUTION: The polarizing plate having a layer structure wherein an adhesive layer, an optical compensation sheet, a polarization film and a protective layer are sequentially layered is blanked out so that an absorption axis direction of the polarizing plate and one side direction of the polarizing plate forms 5 to 40° angle.
