<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recompress compressed code data simply and efficiently. <P>SOLUTION: The image processing unit divides image data at a frequency region into a plurality of partial image data, performs compression encoding for each encoding path in the bit plane of the partial image data, and recompresses code data for composing a layer by a prescribed number of encoding paths based on the amount of code data for each layer. The image processing unit has: a layer selection means for integrating the amount of code data for each layer from the uppermost layer to select a layer in a range, where the amount of integrated code data does not exceed a prescribed amount; and a data quantity compression means for compressing the amount of data by aborting the code data of a layer that is lower than a layer selected by the layer selection means, or setting them to zero. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
