PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce water consumption and to enhance the efficiency of water treatment in a water treatment method and appaeatus by means of membrane filtration including air flashing (AF) or intermittent AF. SOLUTION: This water treatment method comprises: a filtration process of performing cleaning treatment of raw water by a membrane module 21 having a filtration membrane to obtain filtrated water; and an AF process of performing washing of the filtration membrane by causing a bullet-like flow (slag flow) formed by mixing air to the raw water made effluent from a raw water tank 22 by a raw water pump 23 to flow into a primary side of the membrane module 21. In the water treatment method, the AF process is performed by returning the slag flow which is caused to flow into the primary side of the membrane module 21 to the raw water tank 22 and circulating the returned raw water.
