PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an item search method by which a desired item can be searched in a short time out of many items with simple operation. SOLUTION: When, for example, desired music data is searched from many music data stored in a hard disk, a list in which titles (music name) of music data stored in the hard disk are sorted in order of the japanese syllabary is made. When it is searched, a user makes a cursor focus to the head character of kana for reading of the title displayed on a display device, searches the list in the order of the normal order or the reverse order of the japanese syllabary by pressing a cross key in this state, and selects a title of kana for reading of which the kana for reading of the head is same as kana for reading of a title of the desired music data. Next, the cursor is focused to the second character and same search as the first is performed. The title of music data is searched by repeating this operation. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
