PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diagnostic apparatus capable of detecting faults in an imaging apparatus simply and certainly. SOLUTION: A light-emission control portion 32 supplies a control signal to a light-emitting device 12, an imaging apparatus diagnostic portion 33 and a light-emitting device diagnostic portion 34. The control signal controls an interval of blinking performed by the light-emitting device 12. The light-emitting device 12 is installed so as to enter within the angle of field of an imaging apparatus 11. The imaging apparatus diagnostic portion 33 diagnoses the status of the imaging apparatus 11, based on whether blinking of the light-emitting device 12 at an input image photographed by the imaging apparatus 11 synchronizes with the timing of blinking directed by the control signal or not. The light-emitting device diagnostic portion 34 diagnoses the status of the light-emitting device 12, based on whether variation of voltage or current inputted from the light-emitting device 12 synchronizes with the timing of blinking directed by the control signal.
