The apparatus comprises a pedestrian alert device 100 comprising a housing 110 comprising a first surface facing a first direction and a second surface facing a second direction, wherein said first direction differs from said second direction. The pedestrian alert device further comprises a controller 150 disposed within the housing, a first sensor 160 disposed on the first surface and interconnected with the controller, a second sensor 170 disposed on the second surface and interconnected with the controller, and at least one light emitting device 180 disposed on the housing and interconnected with the controller.</p>
