Stapling device with a stapling head for processing round eyelet staples

The method involves pressing a driver (80) onto shoulders of staples and driving-in the staples into a sheet-like material. An eyelet region of the staples is supported with a staple support (6) introduced between sides of the staples during driving-in of staples. The support is moved out from an eyelet region only when the sides passing through the material are largely bent. The support is removed from a supporting region of the eyelet during a return movement of the support, when a staple end of the driver passes beyond a bottom end of the support located opposite the material. An independent claim is also included for a wire stitcher with a stitching head.
