An outdoor unit for an air conditioner includes an outdoor unit housing an inside of which is partitioned by a partition plate, a machine chamber for housing a compressor and an electric component box disposed above the compressor, and a heat exchanger chamber for housing an outdoor heat exchanger and a blower. An option board is mounted to a lower surface portion of the electric component box.
