The method involves providing a door piece (16), and fixing a timepiece (20) to the door piece, where a surface (S) of the timepiece is situated in a XY plane normal to an Z axis which cuts the surface in a specific point. A symmetric circular cutting tool (18) is provided and rotation movement of the tool is effectuated around a C-axis forming a specific angle with the Z-axis in the ZX plane. The tool is brought to contact with the surface, and a part of the surface is machined using the tool by relative displacement of the door piece with respect to the tool. An independent claim is also included for a clock element comprising at least a plane surface presenting a decoration formed of an elevation.
