A moisture absorbable mould, e.g. for casting hollow ceramic articles or bricks, is formed of a mixture of a synthetic resin, hardener and a filler, at least 65%, and preferably 90-98%, by weight of which constitutes the filler, a major proportion of which has a maximum grain diameter smaller than 160Á. The mixture may be compacted in a two part mould, the part defining the inside wall of the mould produced being removed before the compacted material has hardened. The resin may comprise an epoxy resin and the filler an aluminium oxide trihydrate, calcite, quartz flour, or mica powder. |
