[Also in Division B7] A vehicle rear seat 2 comprises a back rest 4 in one or several parts pivotable about pins 7 held in fixed side support plates 8 so that the backrest may be moved to a dotted line position forming a load surface in extension of a rear load surface 6. The backrest has panels hinged to it and to the edge of the surface 6 which bridge the gap between the seat and surface when the seated is pivoted down, and in the figure shown panels 10, 11 and 12 hinged at 14, 15 and 16 are provided. Pivoted side levers 22 or levers 22 in co-operation with other levers 23 pivoted at 26 in the supports plates 8 support the pivoted down backrest from the vehicle floor, and a corrugated clip (19) connected to a housing (18) secured to a handle bar 17, Fig. 3 (not shown), engages over the hinge 15 to retain the panels and the backrest in the full line position. The panel 11 may be pushed down beyond its extended position to hold the panels and backrest in the load position and a U-shaped bow member 35 whose ends provide the pins 7 is provided within the backrest to support the panel 11.
