A governor arrangement comprises a rotor 14 mounted for rotation relative to a support housing 10 and a brake arm 20 carried by the rotor 14 and having thereon friction means 24, the brake arm 20 being moveable to bring the friction means 24 into engagement with a brake surface 30. An inertial weight 26 which is moveable relative to the rotor 14 and linked to the brake arm by links 28 operates the brakes when the rotor accelerates or decelerates. Arms 44, pivoted to the inertial weight 26 may also be provided as a centrifugal brake, the inertial mass 28 may, alternatively, be incorporated in a link arm (50) which also functions as a centrifugal brake arm 40, 44. |
