The clamping ring (5) for fixing the carrier in place has an elongated cross-sectional profile when viewed in the axial direction and is anchored relative to the carrier sleeve (3) so that one portion (26) of the ring on the handle side of the sleeve relative to the handle axle direction can be moved relative to the sleeve and the anchored portion (25) of the ring. The bristle carrier includes parallel bristles and is releasably secured inside a locating hole (14) in a sleeve secured to one end of the handle. The clamping ring extends around the hole wall (15) next to the mouth of the hole. The handle can be moved relative to the sleeve between a clamping position in which the shaft forces the ring to clamp around the carrier and a retracted position in which the shaft releases the ring so that the carrier can be removed from the sleeve.
