The proposed protected armored optical-fiber cable contains a core consisting of fiber-optic lightguides, an internal cover designed as polymeric film wound on the core with overlapping and fixed by polymeric threads, a layer of aluminium band with polymeric coating wound on the internal cover with overlapping, a sheath consisting of two layers of galvanized steel wire wound in opposite directions, and an outside protecting cover. The air gaps in the wire sheath are filled with water-resistant material. The cable can be laid underground and on bottoms of river or water reservoirs.
