The proposed protected optical-fiber cable with a single-layer wire sheath contains a core consisting of fiber-optic lightguides, an internal cover designed as polymeric film wound on the core with overlapping and fixed by polymeric threads, a layer of aluminium band with polymeric coating wound on the internal cover with overlapping, a polymeric intermediate cover, a single-layer wire sheath, and an outside protecting cover. The air gaps between the fiber-optic lightguides are filled with water-resistant material. The cable can be laid underground and on bottoms of river or water reservoirs.
