A drum type washing machine is provided to reduce washing time and to reduce power consumption by heating a small quantity of water with hot steam by using a steam generating unit. A drum type washing machine comprises a drum(30), a tub(20), and a steam generating unit(40). The drum is rotatably installed and sores the laundry. The tub is shaped as corresponding form to the drum. The tub is installed at an external of the drum and stores water. The steam generating unit is installed at an external surface of the tub. The steam generating unit supplies steam into the tub. The drum and the tub are formed as a circular shape. |
