PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charger for an inverter capable of reducing the volumetric capacity, attaining size reduction as a whole, and performing quick charging completion. SOLUTION: This charging apparatus for an inverter is constituted of a circuit including: a main battery 1; main relays 2, 3 connected to the main battery in series; a step-up converter 8 having a step-up reactor 9 connected to the main relays in series for multiplying main battery voltage; an inverter 11 connected to between the output lines of the step-up converter; and a control transistor 13 connected to the main relays in parallel, connected to some midpoint in the step-up reactor, and controlled by switching operation so as to charge the capacitor 12 of the inverter. The control transistor is switched by using impedance of the step-up reactor 9 to charge the capacitor at a constant current. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
