PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic photoconductive material which is excellent in charge transporting ability, solubility with a solvent and compatibility with a resin, which gives an inexpensive electrophotographic photoreceptor excellent both in electric characteristics and durability and which is useful as a source compound of various functional materials, and to provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor using the above organic photoconductive material, and an image forming apparatus equipped with the photoreceptor. SOLUTION: For example, an asymmetric bis-hydroxy compound expressed by a structural formula (1aa) is disclosed. The compound is incorporated into a charge transport layer 4 or a surface protective layer 5 of an electrophotographic photoreceptor 18. The obtained electrophotographic photoreceptor 18 is excellent in electric characteristics and durability and capable of stably forming an image of high quality free from an image defect such as a black spot.
