The machine has a rotor with an exciter winding, where the excitation of the exciter winding is realized by a liquid metal device e.g. liquid metal transducer. A contact fluid of the liquid metal device is prevented from withdrawal between a stationary outer part (1) and a rotary inner part (2) by capillary forces e.g. adhesion force (FA) and cohesion force (FK), of adjacent parts of the contact fluid. Multiple seals position the contact fluid in a current limiting surface, where the capillary forces are applied by limiting surfaces and/or the current limiting surface.
