A method for downloading contents in a mobile terminal is provided to subsequently download contents, for which downloading has been interrupted due to the system lost state of a mobile terminal, by using characteristics of the TCP(Transmission Control Protocol) if the system lost state is cleared. If a mobile terminal makes a contents download request to a server through the wireless Internet, the server extracts contents information from a data DB through a download server and transmits the extracted contents information to the mobile terminal(S2). The mobile terminal, if a packet equivalent to the contents information from the server is received, transmits an ACK message as a response to the received packet to the server and stores it. Then, the mobile terminal executes a process of receiving subsequent packets. The mobile terminal judges whether data reception has been completed(S6). If subsequent packets are not received before data reception is completed(S8), the mobile terminal judges whether the Internet connection has been dropped(S14). In case it is judged that a system lost state has occurred as the Internet connection has been dropped(S14), the mobile terminal attempts access to the wireless Internet(S16). If access to the wireless Internet is successful(S18), the mobile terminal transmits the finally transmitted ACK message to the server again(S20).
