摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight high in light utilization efficiency by suppressing generation of an illumination ineffective region in a light guide plate as much as possible while using a plurality of LEDs being point light sources. <P>SOLUTION: In this edge input type backlight BLE, a light emitting element array module 420 is provided with: a light emitting part formed by arranging a plurality of light emitting elements 421 on an elongated board 422 along its longitudinal direction and sealing them by a transparent material 424; and at least two reflecting surfaces 461b and 461t surrounding a space (d) between the light emitting part of the light emitting element array module 420 and an incident surface 410 of the light guide plate 410; the width in a direction perpendicular to the arrangement direction of the light emitting part of the light emitting element array module 420 is smaller than that of the incident surface 411 of the light guide plate 410; and two reflecting surfaces 451 are installed to increase the distance between them from the light emitting element array module 420 toward the light guide plate 410. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
