<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing system that enables the acquisition of regional information matching a bus operation route. <P>SOLUTION: The information processing system comprises one or more information processing apparatuses installed about one or more bus stops, and a portable terminal device. Each information processing apparatus comprises a regional information storage part storing regional information with position information as an attribute value about the neighborhood of the bus stop or the neighborhood of a bus operation route, and a regional information transmission part for transmitting the regional information to the portable terminal device by short range wireless communication. The portable terminal device comprises a regional information reception part for receiving the regional information transmitted from the information processing apparatus, a position information acquisition part for acquiring position information, a regional information acquisition part for acquiring some regional information according to the position information, and a regional information output part for outputting the regional information.
