<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a grid polarizing film which can be made large in area and is superior in polarization separation performance, with efficient and simple process. <P>SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the grid polarizing film includes a process of forming an (A) layer containing a material Z, where the absolute value of difference between real part n and imaginary part κ of birefringence (N=n-iκ) is ≥1, on a base film, comprising a resin (a); a process of forming a (B) layer containing an organic material on the (A) layer; a process of forming a rugged shape on the (B) layer surface by placing a mold having a fine rugged shape on the (B) layer surface and pressurizing the mold under a temperature condition of at least Tg(a)-20°C, where Tg(a) is the glass transition temperature of the resin (a); and a process of etching the (A) layer by using the rugged shape of the (B) layer as a mask layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
