PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-rotating tape guide which obtains stable tape travel even when tape traveling is repeated for a long term, and can reduce damage of a magnetic tape. SOLUTION: In the non-rotary tape guide located in a traveling path of the magnetic tape of a magnetic recording and playback device, two or more pieces of almost circular concave parts are provided on the surface for guiding the tape of the non-rotary tape guide. Thus, even when the tape traveling is repeated for a long term, the stable tape travel can be obtained and damage of the magnetic tape can be reduced, and the favorable magnetic recording and playback device can be provided.
