PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shape measuring apparatus which easily recognizes a light receiving position used for shape measurement when a plurality of light receiving positions are produced. SOLUTION: When there are the plurality of light receiving positions on one scanning line, light receiving signals Sa from the light receiving positions are outputted in the order of distance shorter from the plurality of light receiving positions to an output end. When a first mode is selected by operation of an operation section 27, the shape measurement is performed using the light receiving position corresponding to the first output light receiving signal Sa, of the plurality of light receiving signals Sa outputted from the output end about one scanning line. When a second mode is selected, the shape measurement is performed using the light receiving position corresponding to the later outputted light receiving signal Sa, of the plurality of light receiving signals Sa outputted from the output end about one scanning line.
