PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a radar system to detect a desired target peak value without expanding any memory, by suppressing detections of unnecessary peak values. SOLUTION: The radar system comprises: an analog-digital converter 9 for applying an analog-digital conversion to a reception wave; a fast Fourier transformer 10 for applying a fast Fourier transformer to the reception wave after applying the analog-digital conversion to it by using the analog-digital converter 9; a first peak detecting means 11 for carrying out a peak detection in a power spectrum which is obtained by the fast Fourier transform of the fast Fourier transform unit 10, based on a difference between a peak portion and a valley portion and based on a comparison between levels of respective peaks; a target peak detecting means 11 for detecting a target peak among peaks in the power spectrum by using the first peak detecting means 11; and a target recognizing means 12 for recognizing a target object based on the target peak detected by the target peak detecting means 11.
