PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable easy anaerobic digestion treatment and composting treatment by removing ammonia nitrogen contained in a liquid or a semisolid organic waste in high efficiency and high speed. SOLUTION: A method comprises supplying an alkali agent in the cylinder of an extruder while conveying the organic waste containing the ammonia nitrogen by the extruder which forcibly extrudes a material while agitating and conveying the material, agitating, mixing and heating the organic waste and the alkali agent in the cylinder, removing an ammonia-containing gas generated from the organic waste outside, and extruding and discharging the organic waste clear of the ammonia nitrogen. By mixing and agitating it in the extruder, the ammonia nitrogen contained in the organic waste can be removed efficiently and in a short time. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
